  • The aim of this work is the visualization of security mechanisms in industrial plants in order to explain how they work.

Motivation

In today's industry, security mechanisms are crucial, especially given the increased attack surface due to increasing digitalization and new regulatory requirements. These regulations are forcing companies to raise their security standards and implement comprehensive security measures.

The aim is to improve the visualization of security mechanisms, especially certificate management. The visualization promotes the understanding and acceptance of these mechanisms among plant operators, who have often dispensed with security measures up to now. The work shows how visual representations can help to communicate the necessity and benefits of security measures in a clear and understandable way in order to ensure compliance with the new regulations and increase security in the industry.

Afraid of familiarization? So is the industry! Jokes aside, this master's thesis will be instrumental in developing a visualization concept that facilitates familiarization and clarifies complex security concepts for decision makers. The mechanisms are comprehensively implemented in libraries such as openSSL and are to be extended by a visualization in the overall process.

OBJECTIVES

  • Visualization of certificate management in an industrial module (not a GUI)
  • Visualization of the use of these digital X.509 v3 certificates
  • Introduction of interactive elements

HELPFUL PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
