Conceptual work on automated device selection in the engineering of process plants using information models and knowledge graphs
MOTIVATION
Equipment selection in process plants is a complex challenge that pushes traditional decision-making processes to their limits. Current selection methods are characterized by manual considerations, individual expertise and a multitude of external dependencies that impair efficiency and reliability. The comparison of equipment requirements, which were modeled in an asset administration shell, with a manufacturer catalog in the form of a knowledge graph represents a way of partially automating this process.
GOALS
The aim of the work is to develop an innovative approach to automated equipment selection. For this purpose, the state of the art in the field of information models and knowledge graphs is to be analyzed and applied to the requirements of the engineering of process plants in a separate concept. To validate the concept, the necessary requirements are transferred to an information model (Asset Administration Shell) and combined with a knowledge graph, which contains a selection of different devices.
graph that maps a selection of different device configurations.
Such a process ensures a reduction in human error rates, standardization of decisions and the basis for the development of tools that increase efficiency in the engineering of process plants. The work thus makes a decisive contribution to the digital transformation in industry and plant engineering.
